Assessment Description

AS biomedical student, Throughout your time at University you will have been developing and refining subject-specific and general employability skills. Your personal development at University will have come from your degree but also from volunteer work, paid employment and from the more social side of life at OBU (e.g participation in ARU sports and social societies).

A personal development plan (PDP) allows you to record your learning and will help you to identify and develop the key skills in your final year of study that employers are looking for and can ultimately be used by you as a resource when applying for jobs and/or further study at the end of your degree.

To satisfy this component you will be required to submit a CV and a personal statement/cover letter containing essential information for a job application. You will be provided with a variety of job adverts to which you complete an application for one.

You may also include a CV and cover letter for an alternative (not listed below) role or degree; in order to do that, you must also include the job description and personal specification within your submission.

  • We have an exciting development opportunity for a graduate to join our team as a Customer
    Quality Specialist. This is an administration based role that will enable you to gain a high level knowledge of quality and the technology and processes used within this industry. You will gain skills and experience in statistical methods, and interpreting and presenting technical data to diverse audiences.
  • Our Regional Customer Quality department ensures that our customers’ requirements and specifications are communicated and implemented across our manufacturing and testing sites. We undertake projects initiated both internally and by our customers and assist with problem resolution on a site, region, or global basis. Working in a fast-paced environment

You will establish close contacts with our Sales, Technology and Plant teams across the globe to improve our focus on internal quality and the customers’ requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The preparation and technical authorship of customer and internal quality related documents required for the introduction of our new products into manufacturing locations, utilising the statistical analysis skills and technical and quality knowledge that you will gain.

  • Providing support on quality related subjects for internal and external customers.
  • Become familiar with our products, technology and manufacturing processes.
  • Gain knowledge of customer specific requirements and ensure these are cascaded to and understood by our manufacturing plants and testing laboratories.

Are you the ideal candidate? You will:

  • Have a degree or be in the final stages of completing a degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail, as well as excellent organisational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Demonstrable IT skills using relevant software packages such as Microsoft Office.

Experience of using technical software packages such as SPSS, MATLAB or Minitab is desirable, but you will be provided with training in the statistical software package Minitab. Candidates should send a CV and personal statement outlining what makes you our ideal candidate.
